Chris O’Keefe says it’s time for a discussion to consider compensating victims of high-profile data leaks following another data leak in the Home Affairs department.

He’s called for a proper deterrent to protect customer data and if businesses and governments are unable to protect customer data – they shouldn’t have it.

“Shouldn’t there be some real-world accountability? If we’re putting our personal information in the hands of these companies, shouldn’t they be responsible for protecting it?” he said.
