Queensland cancer patient’s heartfelt thanks after finally returning home
A Queensland woman receiving treatment for thyroid cancer who tried for weeks to get back home has finally returned home after weeks of being knocked back.
Jim Wilson took up the plight of Sharen Gordon, who travelled to regional Victoria to attend her mother’s funeral and was then stuck across the border in NSW, after being refused an exemption.
She’s just been let out of hotel quarantine and returned to her home in the Gold Coast hinterland.
“It’s lovely, it’s just wonderful to be home again, I am beside myself to be home.”
She said she’s been left “numb” after the experience.
“It’s unbelievable they can do this to their own citizens. There’s something like 3000 people wanting to get across the border, and all we hear here in Queensland is the blame game.”
She said her treatment was “back on track”.
Sharen thanked 2GG listeners for their incredible generosity.
“I arrived home on Friday, and I firmly believe if it wasn’t for you, Jim, and your wonderful listeners, people power, I wouldn’t be at home now, I’d still be waiting.”
