Queensland Premier’s embarrassing moment at the Commonwealth Games
The Queensland Government is set to use the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games as a springboard to bid for one of the biggest events on the world athletics calendar.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has met with IAAF President Lord Sebastian Coe to discuss a possible Queensland pitch for the world athletics championships.
Ms Palaszczuk has told Alan Jones she’s keen to pursue the idea.
“We’ve got the right climate here, much better than some of those southern states. And it would be great for tourism as well.”
The Premier also tells Alan about a moment with a foreign dignitary that embarrassed the entire state.
“He wanted to talk about some possible trade investment so I said let’s duck over to the Marina Mirage.
“We walked in there and he said, ‘I’d really like to have a meal’. They came out and said our kitchen is closed.”
“It was quarter past nine.”
