Accommodation providers are pleading for greater certainty around border restrictions from the Queensland government.

Under the current restrictions, quarantine-free international travel will only be permitted when the state is 90 per cent vaccinated, and domestic travel from hotspots from December 17.

Meriton Group Director of Construction David Cremona told Ray Hadley in NSW the workforce has surged back since the construction ban and lockdown were lifted.

“We’re pretty much at full production.”

However, further north Mr Cremona said the serviced apartment side of the business is continuing to suffer under the Queensland border closures.

“We need certainty on the borders … it’s like a traffic light, it doesn’t work for the economy.

“Once that’s resolved and governments stop fearing the virus and we learn to live with the virus, I think that’s better for everyone.”
