‘Quite terrifying’: Fijian abattoir workers rescue Lismore nursing home residents
A group of Fijian abattoir workers have helped rescue about 60 residents at a Lismore nursing home.
The entire township of Lismore on the far north coast of NSW has been evacuated as floodwaters reach heights not seen since 1974.
Apenisa Marau told Ben Fordham they wanted to help the community.
“It was quite terrifying trying to get those elderly people out of their homes.”
