Councillors from Sydney’s eastern suburbs are pushing for anti-racist street signs to be removed from the area.

Three members of Woollahra Municipal Council have introduced a motion calling for signs proclaiming “racism not welcome” to be pulled down from residential streets in the local government area.

Woollahra councillor Mary-Lou Jarvis told Ben Fordham this is not how to counter racism.

“This is all about us taking personal responsibility … lecturing people with street signs is not going to cut it.”
