Rap music with swear words or offensive language has been banned from the Easter Show this year, following the 2022 gang crimes.

NSW Police said that evidence shows bikie gangs were using rap music to recruit young people to carry out “violent crime” at previous shows.

Sydney Royal Easter Show General Manager, Murray Wilton, has defended the decision to ban rap music from the event, following the stabbing death of a 17-year old boy last year.

“There is a scientific fact of the type of music that is played actually predicts somebody’s behaviour,” said Mr Wilton at a press conference.

Police announced that the number of officers patrolling the grounds this year will be doubled, and most rides will close at 9:30pm under restrictions.
