RAT subsidy to be scrapped amid new Omicron wave
RATs that have been free for the elderly with disabilities and concession cards since January will be scrapped by the government on July 31.
With new variants of Omicron being raised by health authorities, Aussies are being told they’re much more infectious than previous variants.
Chris Smith isn’t impressed.
“At a time when we’re being told this new COVID wave will be at its peak they’re taking the free RATs away,” Chris said.
Chemist Warehouse Director Mario Tascone is calling on the government to extend the subsidy.
“This cohort really does need equitable access to rapid antigen tests.”
