Ray Hadley ‘incensed’ over NSW Energy Minister’s inaction on heat pump ‘rorts’
Ray Hadley has been left incensed over NSW Energy Minister Matt Kean’s comments about cracking down on “dodgy operators” installing heat pump water heaters.
Ray detailed last week concerns raised in a report by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal about the energy savings scheme and complaints over shoddy workmanship.
“What we are having is all of a sudden a rush into the industry of companies that have no history in installing or producing these heat pump water heaters, and they are going into Australian homes,” Ray said.
General Manager of Corporate Affairs at Rheem Australia, Gareth Jennings, heard Ray’s comments last week, and reached out to add weight to Ray’s concerns.
He said the government incentives are driving cheap imports.
Mr Jennings also revealed he had spoken to Mr Kean back in October about the ongoing issues and shortcomings of the so-called “shoddy” companies.
Ray said it was “incomprehensible” that Mr Kean had known about it for months when he called in to the Ray Hadley Morning Show last week.
“I am incensed.”
