Ray Hadley left astonished by Albanese’s ‘fanciful’ refugees plan
Ray Hadley has been left stunned by Labor’s latest ‘fanciful’ refugee plan during his interrogation of the Opposition Leader.
Anthony Albanese has pledged to turn back boats and keep offshore processing facilities if he’s elected to power in May.
The Labor leader’s stance on the issue has been unclear throughout the election campaign after claiming boat turnbacks will eliminate the need for offshore detention.
He sought to clarify the statements on The Ray Hadley Morning Show this morning.
“We support boat turnbacks, we support offshore processing, we support settlement in third countries,” Mr Albanese told Ray.
Ray questioned whether occupants of boats that can’t be turned back will be granted visas.
Anthony Albanese: “Well they won’t come to Australia, they won’t come to Australia, they’ll be settled, well, at Nauru, offshore.”
Ray Hadley: “What- they’ll go straight to Nauru, will they? Good luck!
“What visa will you give these people? What visa?”
Anthony Albanese: “We won’t give them a visa.”
