Ray Hadley reacts to news of sentence slash for killer Oatlands driver

The jail sentence for a drunk and drug-affected driver who killed four children in Oatlands has been reduced by six years on appeal.

Antony Abdallah, 13, his sisters Angelina, 12, and Sienna, 9, and cousin Veronique Sakr, 11, were walking to buy ice cream in February when a 4WD mounted the kerb and struck the children in Oatlands, near Parramatta.

The drunk driver, 29-year-old Samuel Davidson, pleaded guilty to four counts of manslaughter.

He was jailed in April last year for 28 years with a non-parole period of 21 years but the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal concluded the term was manifestly excessive.

Mr Davidson has now been resentenced to a term of 20 years with a non-parole period of 15 years.

Justice Adamson dissented the decision and Judge Brereton wanted to grant even less time for the drunk driver.

Ray Hadley is furious with the judges’ decision and is pushing to have the decision taken to the High Court of Australia.

“The whole damn thing is a bloody disgrace.”
