Ray Hadley reveals bureaucrats at fault for Sydney train chaos
Ray Hadley has laid the blame for Sydney’s disrupted train network at the feet of bureaucrats.
The Australian has learned concerns were raised over the authority of transport officials to unilaterally shut down the train network without consulting the government.
Ray has revealed Transport Minister David Elliott’s Chief of Staff was notified of a disruption to Monday’s services, with no mention of a total shutdown which was announced in the early hours of the morning.
Ray believes either Sydney Trains CEO Matthew Longland or Transport for NSW Secretary Rob Sharp were behind the decision to shut down the train network.
“It’s my belief the bureaucrats acted illegally in doing what they did without the consent of the Minister,” Ray said.
“Their resignation should be called for today!”

Member for the upper house Mark Buttigieg believes the bureaucrats involved knew “well in advance” what actions were planned when shutting down the rail network.
Agreeing with what Ray said earlier he said, “It’s all planned out”.
“This stinks to high heaven.
“It’s not how we do things in Australia.
“You can’t just then spit the dummy and throw out the rulebook.”
