Ray Hadley reveals yet another violent assault on hospital staff
A source has told Ray Hadley there’s been another violent assault on hospital staff, this time on the Central Coast.
A violent struggle broke out in Wyong Emergency Department on Saturday evening after police brought a 28-year-old, drug-affected man to the hospital.
He was highly aggressive, allegedly kicking, punching and spitting at hospital staff.
When a senior doctor ordered the man’s removal, another struggle ensued, where a police officer was allegedly assaulted and needed to be treated by a doctor.
The man has been hit with multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer and an ambulance officer, and two counts of malicious damage (domestic violence related).
He’ll face Wyong Local Court on Thursday.
Ray Hadley says it’s time state governments step up and do something to protect hospital workers.
“Staff in emergency departments are in constant fear of coming to work and being bashed because instances like this are so common.”
