‘Not gonna cop that BS’: Ray Hadley confronts Attorney-General over bikie crackdown delay

Ray Hadley has confronted the NSW Attorney-General over a delay in laws targetting the wealth of organised crime bosses.

State Cabinet has been delaying laws to give NSW Police the right to seek “unexplained wealth orders” (UWO) against suspected underworld identities since last year.

If an individual had a taxable income of $100,000 but had assets of many millions above that and no legal explanation, police could apply to court for a UWO.

The court could then order that individual to pay back the unexplained amount to the state.

The Daily Telegraph claims Attorney-General Mark Speakman is responsible for the delay, reportedly describing the reforms as “draconian”.

NSW Police believe the laws could have prevented some of the killings in the gang wars.

“Speakman is as wet as a lettuce,” Ray declared.

“For God’s sake put the laws in place and give the coppers some hope!”

Mr Speakman heard Ray’s comments on-air and called in to address the concerns.

“There is already very extensive legislation in NSW.”

Ray hit back declaring, “I’m not gonna cop that BS.”

“It sounds to me like you’ve come on to try explain yourself – you haven’t done very well,” Ray said.
