Regional Health Minister touts pharmacy script shake-up
Pharmacists will have the power to prescribe basic medications as part of a three-stage plan.
From today, pharmacists will be able to administer a wider range of public health and travel vaccines.
Eventually, pharmacists with extra training will write scripts for 23 different conditions including nausea and vomiting, allergies and the contraceptive pill.
Regional Health Minister Bronnie Taylor told Ben Fordham it will take pressure off GPs and emergency departments.
“They’re good people, they’re highly trained.”
