Residents fume over Federal Government’s monster wind turbine bid
Eyebrows are being raised among residents and the fishing community amid the Federal Government’s bid to implement a number of wind turbines off the coast of Port Stephens, an area stretching more than 1800 square kilometres.
With many locals in the area reliant on fishing for their livelihoods, there are fears that the federal government’s plan could cripple one of the state’s most dominant fishing industries.
“Do we really want to put hundreds of enormous wind turbines over an area that’s as big as Fraser Island?” Chris O’Keefe said on 2GB.
