Residents furious after WestConnex leaves houses riddled with cracks
Residents are furious after tunnelling of the WestConnex project has caused damage to a number of homes.
Dozens of homeowners are reporting cracks in their walls from the M4 East tunnelling, only to be left in the lurch by WestConnex when they’ve complained.
North Strathfield resident Umberto Galasso tells Ben Fordham he was in his dining room eating lunch, only to see a gaping crack suddenly appear.

“All of sudden I hear this big crack, I’ve looked up and seen this massive crack appear up the top of the archway.
“It just scared the hell out of me.”
Umberto says the first thing he did was call WestConnex, only to be told: “it’s not our problem”.
“They said, ‘Oh it’s not our problem. Our data shows it’s not because of the tunnelling, it’s because of the weather. It’s raining that’s why it’s cracked’.”
