Restaurant sector backing freeze on minimum wage
The restaurant and cafe sector is backing retailer calls for a minimum wage freeze.
In a submission to the Fair Work Commission, the Restaurants and Catering Association described last year’s increase as overreach.
Restaurants and Catering Association Chief Executive Juliana Payne has told Ross Greenwood an increase in these economic conditions would prevent business from turning a profit.
“Our point is that a sledgehammer, one size fits all approach, does not work.
“We have the industry award system that gives you the ability to tailor your case for your industry, according to its conditions and existing regulations.”
