Rethinking ballet: ‘It’s not for the highbrow’

Last weekend, Michael McLaren saw The Australian Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at Capitol Theatre.
“The stage sets, the lighting, the technology used, the choreography and of course the dancing, was world class.
“Utterly extraordinary.”
A changed man, blown away by the details, Michael speaks with Artistic Director for the show David McAllister.
“Our aim is to take people away from the everyday.
“Everywhere you go there’s a pub, a Chinese restaurant and a ballet school. It’s a very democratic art form. It’s not for the highbrow.”
