30-year-old Northern Territory police officer Zachary Rolfe has pleaded not guilty to murdering 19-year-old Indigenous man, Kumanjayi Walker.
Bodycam footage of the fatal arrest has been released.
WARNING: Confronting footage
Walker stabbed Constable Rolfe with a large pair of surgical scissors.
Constable Rolfe then fired a shot into Walker’s back.
The Indigenous teenager was wrestled to the ground by Rolfe’s partner.
The man had been wanted by police after cutting off his ankle bracelet while on parole for a serious assault.
Other footage shown in court shows officers attempting to arrest Walker on November 6, 2019, in a remote Aboriginal community 300 kilometres from Alice Springs.
However, Walker charged at officers with an axe andĀ fled the scene.
