Rugby league legend’s 313 kilometre journey for dementia
Former Penrith Panthers rugby league legend, Royce Simmons, will begin his Big Walk for dementia today, starting his 313 kilometre trip in Dubbo.
When Royce Simmons disclosed in January 2022 that, at age 61, he had been diagnosed with dementia the previous year, many were in shock, but he was on a mission to help others and raised over $1 million for dementia.
“It was about 330 kilometres last year, but we had to do it over the mountains and some of the boys didn’t handle it as well,” Royce told Ray Hadley.
Some big names who are walking with Royce include, Paul Clarke, Paul Sironen and Ronnie Palmer.
Royce is set to conclude his walk in Bathurst, arriving at the Panthers Vs Wests Tigers match, where they will be playing for the Royce Simmons Cup on April 29. You can donate here.
