Russian missile strike reportedly hits Poland, kills two
Poland has called an emergency national security council meeting after Russian missiles struck its territory, killing two.
Moscow had unleashed a torrent of attacks on Ukraine, targeting the country’s energy infrastructure and leaving millions without power.
Two projectiles are reported to have hit a farm near Poland’s border with Ukraine around the same time as the Russian missile attack on western Ukraine.
The US says it will “defend every inch of NATO territory” in the wake of the incident but a senior White House official said the reported strike has not yet been confirmed.
We've seen these reports out of Poland and are working with the Polish government to gather more information. We cannot confirm the reports or any of the details at this time. We will determine what happened and what the appropriate next steps would be.
