Russian weapon shot down MH17, international investigation reveals
A Russian missile was used to shoot down flight MH17, an international investigation into the ill-fated flight has revealed.
Investigators determined a weapon from the 53rd Russian military brigade was used to bring down the Malaysia Airlines flight.
All 298 people on board were killed, with 38 of those Australian citizens or residents.
A team of international investigators, including members of the Australian Federal Police, announced on Thursday they’d found “convincing evidence” to support their claim.
Malaysia Airlines’ flight MH17 left Amsterdam bound for Kuala Lumpur but was shot down by a missile over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.
While many had suspected Russian involvement, rebel militants operating in Ukraine had also been blamed.
