Disgraced Labor senator Sam Dastyari has called on Liberal MP Gladys Liu to be held to the same standard as he was over connections to Chinese organisations.

Ms Liu has been heavily criticised after a trainwreck interview on Sky News which raised serious questions about her links with China.

She claimed she couldn’t recall being a member of Chinese organisations known for influencing foreign governments.

Sam Dastyari, who was forced to resign over his links to a Chinese property developer, says the Liberal MP should be treated the same way he was.

“Anyone that pretends they weren’t a member of these Chinese organisations for up to a decade is lying.

“She should be held to the same standard as I was.”
