School bans kids from handing out birthday invitations
A school on Sydney’s North Shore has put a stop to kids handing out birthday party invitations.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Mosman Public School implemented the ban to avoid upsetting children who weren’t invited.
Parents are now being told to send out invitations via email.
Many are criticising the move, saying kids can’t be wrapped in cotton wool and need to learn resilience.
But child and education psychologist Andrew Greenfield tells Ben Fordham if kids are always left out it can have a devastating effect on their self-esteem.
“It doesn’t hurt to be a little bit more discreet and not throw it in kids’ faces and highlight the fact that they’re just not invited.”
