In his address to a Queensland mining conference, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has promised to legislate against companies who bow to pressure from climate activists.

Banks, engineering firms, and even small contractors are among those under scrutiny, says Macquarie Media political reporter Harry Spicer.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has already rebuffed Mr Morrison’s comments, questioning how such a crackdown could be possible.

Mr Morrison says protest groups such as Extinction Rebellion, who have ground cities to a halt multiple times in recent months, are “self-indulgent and selfish”.
