Accomplished Hollywood actor Ray Liotta stars as patriarch gangster ‘Hollywood Dick’ Moltisanti (and twin brother Sal) in The Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark.

Liotta already had a relationship with the franchise, he told Deborah Knight, having been approached to join a later season of The Sopranos but turning the role down.

“It just wasn’t the right thing at that time.

“But there was just something about [producer David Chase’s] persona, his intensity, his commitment that really touched me.

“They didn’t even want to meet me on this, and I talked to my agent, I said ‘I’d like to see if there’s anything I can do in this’.

“They finally said ‘yes’ … I went, I talked, and I conquered.”
