Senator Cory Bernardi urges government to rethink company tax cuts
Australian Conservatives Senator Cory Bernardi thinks the government needs to accept their proposed company tax cuts won’t pass the Senate.
One Nation has reversed its position to support the cuts from 30% to 25%, leaving only four cross-bench senators prepared to pass it.
That’s well short of the nine needed.
Cory Bernardi joins Ben Fordham, and agrees – One Nation can’t seem to make up its mind.
“This is what happens when you make your decisions based on the last person you spoke to”.
Senator Bernardi says it takes courage to argue for tax cuts, along with commitment and an understanding.
He wants the government to accelerate tax cuts for small business, and then look at tax relief for the 50% of Australians who pay tax.
“Let’s provide more relief for those actually paying tax, let’s support small business because they can’t get their tax program through the Senate”.
