Senior Liberals back Gladys as rogue MPs call for leadership spill
Senior ministers have thrown their support behind the Premier after rogue MPs called a leadership spill.
Three conservative Liberals – Tanya Davies, Matthew Mason-Cox and Lou Amato – say Gladys Berejiklian should be removed over her handling of the controversial abortion bill.
The spill was brought on after negotiations over four key amendments broke down.
Senior frontbenchers, including the Treasurer and Transport Minister, have publicly backed the Premier with no clear challenger coming forward.
No, not running. #comical

Attorney-General Mark Speakman is also in Ms Berejiklian’s corner, describing the spill motion as “a bump in the road”.
“This is going to be a bit of a fizzer. The party’s support is overwhelmingly for Gladys.
“People are sick to death of the Canberra disease that we saw paralyse the Coalition government in Canberra for years.
“We’ve seen three Labor leaders in 12 months in NSW. People want stability, people just want us to get on with the job.
“This is a bump in the road but I think it’ll all be over in a couple of hours. I think there’s only a handful of agitators.”
Gladys is the People’s Premier.
This spill motion is selfish and immature and will be comprehensively rejected.

Alan Jones says those calling for change have honourable intentions but says “it’ll be a bit of a storm in a teacup”.
“There’ll be a spill motion. The spill motion won’t succeed… I do believe [Gladys] has got the comprehensive support of the party.”
