The boss of TikTok in Australia says he’s ‘extremely disappointed’ the app is being banned from Federal government devices.

Politicians and public servants will have to delete the app from their government-issued phones.

The move is in response to a Home Affairs department investigation – over whether the Chinese-owned platform poses a security risk.

The app’s general manager in Australia and New Zealand is slamming the decision saying it’s driven by politics, not by fact.

State and territory governments have been briefed on the ban, and are expected to follow suit.

Shadow Minister for Cyber Security James Paterson, told Luke Grant there are no plans to block the app in the private domain.
