Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson, has told Ray Hadley that Australians should set aside their views on the conflict in Israel and Palestine and remember that “nothing justifies the targeting of innocent civilians.”

Paterson’s comments come as tensions in Australia begin to emerge, after shocking scenes at a pro-Palestine rally in Lakemba on Sunday night.

Sunday night in Lakemba saw Sheikh Ibrahim Dadoun applaud the attacks against Israel as a sign of resistance when he said to a group of supporters: “I’m smiling and I’m happy. “I’m elated, it’s a day of courage, it’s a day of pride, it’s a day of victory. This is the day we’ve been waiting for.”
