Shocking CCTV footage shows man allegedly attacking police with a knife
A man has been charged after allegedly attacking police officers with a knife in Sydney’s north-west.
Just after 3am, a male Leading Senior Constable and a female Probationary Constable were attacked from behind as they approached Eastwood Police Station on Ethel Street.
Shocking CCTV footage released by police shows the man allegedly producing a 20cm knife and lunging at the male officer.
After swinging the knife three times at the Leading Senior Constable’s head, the alleged offender fled.
Six officers pursued the man on foot before he was eventually tasered to the ground and arrested.
The 28-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and refused bail.
He was expected to front Burwood Local Court today but was deemed too violent to appear.
He’ll remain behind bars until the case returns to court in September.
The officer involved was not physically injured during the incident.
