Parents are being urged to keep their children home from school as teachers go on strike.

Thousands of public school teachers will strike outside state parliament, calling for a pay rise between 5 and 7.5 per cent.

The government has promised a new pay policy will follow next month’s election.

Business NSW CEO Daniel Hunter told Ben Fordham the flow-on effect on businesses will be similar to lockdowns.

“Kids will be stuck at home … those small businesses won’t be able to open or will be opening under reduced trading conditions.”
