‘So much hypocrisy’: Pauline Hanson defends snub of union-busting bill

Article image for ‘So much hypocrisy’: Pauline Hanson defends snub of union-busting bill

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson is standing by her decision to vote against the union-busting bill which left the government blindsided.

One Nation was prepared to support the legislation as long as unions wouldn’t be punished for minor breaches but, in a shock move, ended up joining Labor and the Greens in voting against the bill.

The legislation would allow the federal court to deregister a union that breaks the law and ban officials for misconduct.

Alan Jones says, “the government are now seeking to vilify Pauline Hanson.”

But Ms Hanson says she sticks by her decision.

“I will base legislation, my vote, based on the merit of that legislation and that has not changed.

“After having a consultation with the unions, and other business and organisation groups, I came down with this decision.

“I’m sick and tired, there’s so much hypocrisy here.”
