Some of the state’s top volunteers honoured for their work
The winners of this year’s Clubs NSW Volunteer of the awards have officially been announced.
Among thousands of deserving nominees, the awards have been handed out today.
Clubs across the state rely on the work of 32,000 volunteers and each and every day.
Ben Fordham caught up with three of the superstars.
21-year-old Aimee Caulfield is the Young Volunteer of the Year and she tells Ben she got a “huge shock” when her name was called out.
Aimee spends her spare time helping young people in regional New South Wales who deal with issues such as domestic violence and drug addiction.
“My volunteering role isn’t just a 9 to 5 it is 24/7,” she tells Ben.
“Whenever those kids need me I’m there. Whatever they need me for, I’m there.”
Ben has also caught up with Senior Volunteer of the Year George Tillet and NSW Volunteer of the Year Wendy Dalton.
