‘Stamp it out’: Child sexual abuse survivor discusses legislative reform
Survivor, advocate and founder of the Your Reference Ain’t Relevant Campaign, Harrison James has given an update on the legal ‘loophole’ reducing pedophiles’ jail sentences.
Under current NSW law, pedophiles can reduce their sentences based on ‘good character’ references.
Legislative reform talks have commenced following James’ meeting with the NSW Attorney General, Michael Daley.
“It’s in the government’s best interest to stamp it out”, James said.
He continued, “It should be a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to pedophilia”.
