State election: Electoral Commissioner defends his staff
NSW Electoral Commissioner John Schmidt has defended his staff ahead of tomorrow’s state election following an incident at a Manly pre-polling site when a woman was incorrectly told to ‘mark all the boxes’.
“They’re people drawn from the community,” Mr Schmidt said of the election staff.
“They’re not full time public servants, they’re mums and dads, brothers and sisters who do a day’s work to deliver democracy in NSW.”
Mr Schmidt said all staff received training and there were clear instructions on the ballot paper for people to follow.
