Steve Price has some advice for your next trip to Japan… don’t get “courtside seats” to watch sumo wrestlers.

On Afternoons, the subject of Japanese sumo wrestlers came up and it prompted Steve to call in and offer his two cents.

He recalls a trip to Japan with colleague Ross Greenwood and their families 11 years ago where it was suggested they attend a sumo contest in Tokyo.

So they went, and bought tickets for a “super box”.

“What do you reckon a super box at the sumo consists of?” he says.

Turns out it’s not as luxurious as a corporate box or courtside seats to a basketball game…

“Sitting on the floor on a  bamboo matt for four hours with a bento box while we watched fat men push each other out of a ring,” he says.

Steve says he wouldn’t recommend the experience… “Not for 800 bucks a box, no”.
