‘Suck it up’: Eddie Obeid pleads for early release from jail
Corrupt former Labor politician Eddie Obeid has asked to be released from prison on medical grounds before his conviction appeal is heard.
Obeid is serving a prison sentence of three years and 10 months for conspiring to rig the tender process for a coal exploration licence.
He appeared before the NSW Court of Appeal beside his son, Moses Obeid, who was given a three-year non-parole jail term over his role in the conspiracy.
Ben Fordham says the former politician and his son should “suck it up” and complete the sentence.
“It’s not meant to be a resort, you’re in prison for a good reason.”
