Survivor remembers Granville train disaster 45 years on
A survivor of the Granville train disaster that killed 84 people has remembered the moment, 45 years on.
On the morning of January 18, 1977, a crowded passenger train left the Blue Mountains for Sydney.
The train derailed and hit a pillar supporting the Bold Street bridge and two carriages were crushed when the bridge gave way.
Survivor Phil told Ben Fordham he’s grateful he’s still here to tell his story.
“I was hanging upside down for three and a half hours.”
