Suspicious package found at home of federal MP, bomb squad called
A suspicious package has been found at the home of federal politician David Gillespie on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Police have confirmed an exclusion zone has been set up around the property at Sancrox, west of Port Macquarie.
Ray Hadley has been told the Bomb Squad was called after a cylinder was found on the home’s front gate, accompanied by a flag with foreign writing.
Mr Gillespie is the Nationals MP for the seat of Lyne.
His office has told The Ray Hadley Morning Show Mr Gillespie is ok and that he actually recognises the writing.
He believes the language on the flag is Latin.
UPDATE
Police have now confirmed the device has been declared safe by the bomb squad.
Detectives are now investigating the intent behind the device and the flag.
