Sydney Airport is attempting to locate the owners of nearly 100 abandoned cars, some dating back to 2018.

Josh Clements, a representative from Sydney Airport, pointed out that tracking down the owners using VIN numbers is challenging, “as a lot of these people don’t really want to be found”.

He explained that the cars were in such poor condition that abandoning them was a simpler option than trying to sell them.

Clements mentioned that on average, 1-2 vehicles are left at the airport each month.

Owners have a 14-day window to claim their vehicles; otherwise, Sydney Airport is in discussions with auction houses for potential sales or considering sending them to scrap yards.
