Sydney faces 24 hours of uncollected bins as garbage truck drivers strike
Garbage truck drivers are walking off the job today as the Transport Workers Union (TWU) negotiates for better pay and safer conditions.
This action will result in thousands of bins remaining uncollected for 24 hours in Sydney.
TWU National Secretary Michael Kaine states that this is the sixth time the Cleanaway workers are going on strike, and if their demands are not met, it will not be the last.
In addition, paramedics and patient transport officers will also be striking tomorrow to exert pressure on the government to eliminate the wage gap in the public sector.
As a result, ambulances will refuse to transport discharged patients from hospitals for a period of 24 hours.
