Sydney’s nightlife at risk from noise complaints
Noise complaints are on the rise as Sydney works to rebound from COVID-induced lockdowns.
Anecdotal reports from venues indicated pubs’ increased use of outdoor spaces, as well as opening doors and windows to increase ventilation, were leading to more noise complaints.
Australian Hotels Association NSW Director John Green told Joe Hildebrand noise complaints have had a devastating effect on the live music scene over the years.
“A lot of venues have just turned off the live music … they might just have background noise nowadays.”
