Take That is back! The legendary boy band joins Alan in studio
Almost 27 years after Take That first formed, the British boy band is back, and they’re in Australia.
The band that launched Robbie Williams has 56 number one hits, 35 number one albums and 45,000,000 record sales worldwide.
Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen joined 2GB Breakfast Host Alan Jones in studio in the middle of their first Australian tour in 22 years.
Lead singer Gary says the whole experience is surreal, “if someone would have said I was going to be a pop star when I was younger I would have said no way.
“It’s crazy, it’s crazy coming back. Nearly 27 years we’ve been together, going stronger the second time round. It’s dream stuff really.”
Famed for their extravagant shows, mammoth productions and elaborate costumes the band has scaled things back this time around.
Mark Owen says they don’t need all the trimmings to feel confident anymore.
“We’re doing this show here now in Australia, it’s just us three. We don’t have that [large] production.
“We’ve had a really, really great reaction and we’re really enjoying it as well.”
