Teachers Federation President believes NSW Premier ‘failed’ students

The NSW Teachers Federation President said NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has “failed students, parents, and the teaching profession”.

Teachers across New South Wales are set to walk off the job for a second time next Wednesday due to staff shortages and wanting a pay increase.

Angelo Gavrielatos said the suspension of industrial action was an act of “good faith” to the Premier in order to negotiate.

“The premier failed to embrace that opportunity,” he said.

“The disruption of that one day pales insignificance when it’s compared to the disruption every single day when hundreds of classes are collapsed, split, or merged … because of the teacher shortage that the government has known about.”
