Teens accused of attempted murder after injured girl pulled from burning building
Two teenage boys have been charged with attempted murder after a girl was pulled from a burning building with multiple stab wounds in the state’s south.
Police say two boys, aged 16 and 17, went to the home of an acquaintance at Albury at about 12.30am on Monday, asking for a room for the night.
At about 9.30am emergency services were called after the building was set alight.
A 16-year-old girl was pulled from the building in a semi-conscious state, suffering multiple stab wounds to her stomach, back and head.
She was rushed to hospital with a punctured liver and remains there in a stable condition.
The two boys were arrested nearby and are accused off assaulting the girl before setting fire to the building.
The pair have been refused bail and will face a children’s court today, charged with a range of offences including attempted murder.
