Teens to appear in court over high-speed ambulance chase
Three teenage boys will appear in court after a high-speed police pursuit of an ambulance in the state’s north-west.
Police say five people armed with knives broke into a home in Bourke in the early hours of Thursday morning and allegedly stole cash and a Holden Commodore which was parked outside.
Shortly after, the car was found abandoned in Brewarrina and a second home was broken into and an ambulance was allegedly stolen.
Police initiated a pursuit but it was abandoned after the ambulance crossed onto the wrong side of the road and was deliberately driven towards a police car.
A Ben Fordham Live listener detailed the high-speed chase, which had made its way to Bourke, live on-air.
The ambulance was later found abandoned and two teens, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on Friday.
They were charged with a series of offences, including aggravated break and enter, reckless driving and breach of bail.
A third teen was then arrested in Brewarrina on Saturday.
All three will appear before a Children’s Court today.
