The new Liberal candidate in the race for one of Sydney’s most marginal seats

A new female Liberal will contest one of Sydney’s most marginal seats after the sitting Liberal MP announced he won’t re-contest.

East Hills MP Glen Brookes will retire from politics at this month’s election with local small business owner Wendy Lindsay to replace him.

She tells Ray Hadley the “people of East Hills are aspirational” and says, as a local, she’s the best possible candidate.

“I really do want to be the local voice for our local area,” she says.

“I think it’s important that someone is in there, that is going to best represent us and what the people of this area want.”

Cameron Murphy will once again contest as the Labor candidate after narrowly losing at the 2015 election.

A recent Daily Telegraph poll shows Ms Linday holds 44 per cent of the primary support.
