Speaking with Ray Hadley for the first time in 18 months, the Prime Minister is urging state members of the Liberal Party to mind their business.

His comments follow the decision of Liberal MP Ann Sudmalis not to contest the next election.

Ms Sudmalis says she’s been bullied by state Liberal MP Gareth Ward over the six years she’s been in federal parliament.

She’s accused him of publicity stunts that are “unfair and unethical”, and leaking damaging material to the media.

Scott Morrison tells Ray he’s disappointed Ms Sudmalis is leaving.

“I mean, she was going to be endorsed as the Liberal candidate, that’d been made pretty clear so it wasn’t about that.

“But sometimes state members of parliament stick their nose into the business of federal members’ areas and I don’t think that’s a particularly good look.

“I’m not going to be distracted by it. I’ve got to focus, look through the dust and make sure we’re focusing on the things that make a big difference, like getting people’s electricity prices down.

“I think the people have had a gutful of the sort of nonsense that goes on in Canberra, I know I have.”

The PM also says he’s “pleased” former prime minister Tony Abbott accepted his invitation as special envoy on Indigenous Affairs.

“I’m also pleased that Tony took up my invitation to work on something that he’s massively passionate about and that’s about getting young indigenous kids in school.”
